Bones Season 9 Premiere Date September 16, 2013

FOX’s longest running crime show, Bones is back for its 9th season on Monday September 16 at 8 pm (ET). Following the baseball World Series, Bones will move to Fridays at 8 pm from November 8. The script for episode one, confirmed by executive producer Stephen Nathan to be titled “The Secrets in the Proposal” (confirmed via TVLine), has been handed out to cast and crew members. And executive producer Ian Toynton has, via Twitter, announced shooting Season 9 will begin on July 23rd.

In regards to the season premiere, Stephen Nathan said, “We want to continue exploring how Booth and Brennan adjust after their ill-fated proposal and the secret Booth is forced to keep. Secrets will be a theme we keep alive — and dead (we are a murder show after all) — in the episode.”

Following Bones on Mondays will be the premiere of the thrilling adventure fantasy, Sleepy Hollow at 9 pm. According to FOX, the series is a modern-day twist on Washington Irving’s 1820 short story, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. In the series, Ichabod Crane (played by Tom Mison, “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen”) is resurrected and pulled two and a half centuries through time to find that the world is on the brink of destruction and that he is humanity’s last hope, forcing him to team up with a contemporary police officer (Nicole Beharie, “42,” “Shame,” “American Violet”) to unravel a mystery that dates back to the founding fathers.

New unscripted series, Junior MasterChef, will debut Friday September 27 at 8 pm. FOX says the new culinary competition for talented kids gives “budding cooks between the ages of eight and 13 the opportunity to showcase their talent, culinary smarts and passion for food through a series of delicious challenges and cook-offs.” Award-winning chef Gordon Ramsay, restaurateur and winemaker Joe Bastianich (Del Posto, Eataly) and acclaimed chef Graham Elliot (Graham Elliot, Graham Elliot Bistro) will coach and encourage the kids to cook like pros, as well as teaching them the tricks of the trade along the way. The concept has been successful in Australia and Greece. There are no promos for the US series, but promos for the Australian and Greece seasons can be found on YouTube.

Bones will replace Junior MasterChef from November 8, and will be followed by season three of Raising Hope.

High-tech, high-stakes action drama Almost Human premieres Monday November 4, filling Bones vacant 8 pm slot. The series is executive produced by Emmy Award winner J.J. Abrams (“Fringe”, “Lost”, the “Mission: Impossible” and new “Star Trek” franchises) and created by J.H. Wyman (“Fringe”, “The Mexican”). Almost Human stars Karl Urban (“Star Trek”, “Lord of the Rings”) and Michael Ealy (“Sleeper Cell”, “Common Law”), and is set 35 years in the future, when police officers in Los Angeles are paired with highly evolved human-like androids. An unlikely partnership is forged when a part-machine cop (Urban), who has a dislike for robots, is forced to pair with a part-human robot (Ealy), with emotional feelings, as they fight crime in a futuristic new world.

FOX announced the renewal of Bones early, choosing to announce it before season 8’s back half began in January. The news shouldn’t be a surprise for fans. In spring 2012, FOX renewed the show for Season 8 – while signing a licensing deal for two. For those who don’t understand, it meant FOX has the option of picking Bones up for Season 9 without having to go through studio red tape a second time.

Getting a 9th season just proves how resilient the show has been since it started in 2005. Bones has survived through renewal seasons up against a strong FOX line-up of scripted dramas, and even came through the writer’s strike stronger than ever (albeit having a slightly shorter season).

There’s so far no dates for when Season 9 will premiere in other countries – for the Boneheads outside of the US, stay tuned. iDigBones will keep you updated with the schedule for all countries.
