John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, who wrote this summer’s Horrible Bosses, have completed their second screenplay draft for a reboot of National Lampoon’s Vacation. New Line cinema is actively seeking a director for this priority project and Peter Segal (Get Smart, The Longest Yard, Anger Management) is on the top of their list.
This new film, tentatively called Vacation, will center around a grown up Rusty Griswold and may chronicle his journey to take his own family to Wally’s World. In the original, Rusty was played by Anthony Michael Hall. There is no word yet on casting other than the hope of cameos for Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo.
